Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) Training
This course provides the framework of defining the roles and responsibilities of a certified nurse's aide. CNAs often work in a wide variety of settings; nursing homes, hospitals, adult daycare centers, personal homes, and assisted living facilities with the expectation that nursing assistants act as a helpful liaison between the RN or LPN and the patient. The curriculum addresses the spiritual, recreational and activity needs of the resident. Students will learn how to meet the physical and social needs , along with making sure that the resident’s dignity and privacy is held to the highest standards. The following list are specific skills nurse’s aide will learn:
Turning and moving patients
Proper usage of medical supplies
Bathing patients
Grooming patients by brushing their hair, teeth, shaving them, etc.
Feeding patients and documenting their food and liquid intake
Checking vital signs such as blood pressure and heart rate
Assisting residents with changing and toileting
Answering patient call lights
Assisting with other various patient needs.
The completion of the Certified Nurse Assistant program is dependent on classroom time for discussion of theories for 52 hours and 28 hours of nursing assistant clinicals in a nursing facility under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
